House Minority Leader Won't Back Young's Committee Appointment

KTUU

December 10, 2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- U.S. Rep. Don Young is losing support from at least one congressional colleague.

In a meeting Tuesday, House Minority Leader John Boehner told Young he will not back him for a party leadership position on the House Natural Resources Committee.

Boehner cited the mounting ethical questions Young has thus far not been able to shake, and indicated the GOP Steering Committee shared his position.

Young is allegedly under investigation for illegal campaign donations and a questionable earmark for a road in Florida.
